When two of your favorite Standard Process whole food vitamin B products combine (Cataplex B & Cataplex G), you get just a little bit excited!
When it comes to the care of the heart & cardiovascular system; quality B vitamins, fats, and mineral balance are of the most important.
B vitamins are water soluble, which means that they are not stored in the body and must be consumed each day. They are one of the most depleted vitamins in the Standard American Diet and with Rx’s. And, among the most significant for energy and heart health.
Cataplex B-Core has more of the B4 containing ingredients than any other product, which have the greatest impact on motor nerve conductivity, valve function, and overall heart strength. B4 cannot be synthesized and is always accompanied by B1 in nature; a whole-food source is the only way it can be supplemented or through the diet.
What is B4 you ask? It is considered a forgotten vitamin and has even made it on the “long lost B vitamin list” with B8, B10, and B11. These parts of the B complex are no longer labeled vitamins because they don’t fit the official definition of vitamins. That definition is: essential and required for normal human growth and required to be obtained by diet because they can’t be manufactured by the human body.
But, we still need all. the. nutrients.
B4, also known as adenine speeds up the energy manufacturing process in our bodies. It also plays a key role in protein synthesis and the chemical processes that accompany it. Not only that, adenine is an important component of our DNA and RNA which provides our genetic information. It helps support nerve conduction and coordination of the different parts of the heart. B4 also helps tonify the heart muscle. It also helps relieve stress and who doesn’t need that right about now!
What happens if we don’t have enough B4?
Without B4, our cells and tissues would not be up to par and we would not be able to fight off viruses and infections due to our immune systems becoming quite compromised. No bueno!
Without B4, we would also not be able to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. Without this regulation, cells would begin to degenerate and mutate causing a plethora of free radicals in the body and speeding up the aging process. No thank you!
Some food sources of B4 include propolis and bee pollen, along with raw, unfiltered honey. Fresh fruits and vegetables also contain it as well as herbs and spices including cloves, thyme, sage, ginger, spearmint, jojoba, hawthorne, and blessed thistle. It’s also found in bovine liver, beet root, nutritional yeast, defatted wheat germ, rice bran, carrot, sweet potato, and bovine adrenal tissues. Refined, processed foods deplete B4 so staying away from those is key to keeping it around.
